Sustainable ENVIronmentaL monitorIng and prediction oFpollutants sprEad
We aim to scan the pollution in soil and water, and predict pollution spread with advanced data processing
A sustainable prediction of pollution spread is a key requirement for planning and optimization of environmental monitoring of valuable natural resources like water and soil which sustain heavy exploitation with increasing demand of agricultural production, growth of urban areas and industry.
Pollution screening by state-of-the-art laboratory methods
Best analytical equipment and novel sample preparation methods will ensure reliable and high quality detection of CEC
Satellite image analysis
Satellite images will support sampling strategy and contaminant diffusion mechanism and probability over soil and water
Field sampling
Soil and water samples for analysis will be systematically selected to represent true state of the environment on more than 300 spots during the project
Development of MIMS for VOC detection
With the strong expertise in development and application of Membrane inlet Mass Spectrometers (MIMS) we will detect dangerous volatile organic compounds in the canal water
Pollutant “Top List”
One of main project outcomes will be a list of the most frequently found contaminants of emerging concern in water and soil along the pilot area
Prediction of pollutant spread
Final goal of the project is to develop methodology and a tool to identify critical agricultural areas with higher probability of contamination from irrigation with water from the DTD canal
“Its is important to know types of contaminants and how to predict what to monitor before hazards occur”
